NEW! 2010 decalset availabe for the Audi R10 Kolles raced at the 2010 Le Mans 24 hours

16.04.2010 - NEWSFLASH!

To our great regret we have decided to cancel or postpone the second OEPS race

The latest word is that CPH will be closed for all airtraffic untill 15:00 on Friday, which means that IF flights start flying again, the logistics of all airliners are messed up, to say the least. And of course not to mention the million people being stuck in European airports, who'll get priority obviously in order to get wherever they were going.
So, we can be 99,99% sure that nobody will be able to reach CPH by air tomorrow, or even on Saturday, and therefore we've decided NOT to race on Saturday.

For the teams being already present, we are probably gonna have a small race for fun, NO OEPS race, and get drunk at the local bars...

I can't say how much I hate having typed this message, as you know I don't like to give up. But as Rolf Andersen just said on the phone, this is textbook force-majeur.

We'll keep you updated on any new developments.

Your OEPS team

HAPPY EASTER TO ALL!

30.03.2010

A few informations and updates to the rules, technical inspection procedure and general information before the Copenhagen race in two weeks time.

All teams present in Dison will get the two same motors for the Copenhagen round. New teams will make a draw from the stock of motors for their two practise and race motors.

First we have included the following text in the rules.: The body must cover all chassis and axel parts, so that no chassis part or axel part is visible when the car is looked at from above. This also includes the guide.

We have also changed the wording regarding treatment of the rear tires, so the rules now state.: Tyre dressing of any kind is not allowed during the official training or during the race. The hand out race tyres may be only be cleaned by using the tape supplied by the OEPS organization.

We have also included the technical control procedure and the penalties into the rules and they now read as follows.:

Technical inspection procedure

Qualifying starts without any TC having been done.

Directly after the qualifying run the car goes into parc fermé and TC. Should the car fail TC, the team gets a time penalty, and can’t rectify the problem until the race has started and the penalty has been sat through.

The 6 slowest cars will be TC-ed first, so as to start the race as quick as possible.

DIRECTLY at the start of the race in which the faulty car starts, the team have to sit out their 1 minute, being stationary at the start, and only after that one minute, the team can start correcting their car according to the TC's wishes. And only then, the teams are allowed to start the race.

Penalties:
- a 1 minute delay at the first following run for not passing Tech. Additional 30 seconds delay will follow per each individual infringement with the rule set.

(example: car A is too low, too wide and misses 2 inserts. This team will get a 2 minute penalty – 1 minute for point one, too low, 30 seconds for point 2, too wide and another 30 seconds for missing inserts. Number of missing inserts is not important, 1 missing insert gets the same penalty as 4 missing inserts)

- Only after this penalty has been sat out work may begin to correct the error. During the first lanechange the TC will check if the car now meets the rules in full.

- Not passing post race TC = all laps of best stint will be deducted from the overall total lap result

07.12.2009 CHANGE OF VENUE FOR FIRST RACE!

It is with great regret that we have to change the venue for the first OEPS race of 2010. We have been informed that there is a great posibility that the Spa track in Bedburg, Germany will not be ready for racing untill later in 2010!

Therefore we have had to change the venue to the club/track of the Slotracin24 Club in Dison, Belgium. The track is situated at:  Techniplast Raceway,Rue Neuve 77, Dison, Belgium.

The reason we have choosen this venue is that it is only about 1 hours drive from Düsseldorf and Köln International Airports, which most of the teams from Scandinavia and the west or south of Europe would go through to get to Bedburg as well.

We will post more info on the track, hotels etc., in a few days time.

Please also note that the time schedule etc., will be adjusted to the Dison 8 laner.

02.12.2009 - NEWS on the hand out motors!

The chosen motor for the OEPS is the ProSlot Euro Competition, PS4000Comp.

This motor has been chosen on recommendation from Dan DeBella of ProSlot Inc. The motor is slightly different from the ones used in the IMCA EEC, in that they do not have the ball bearings at the shaft end. Again Dan DeBella told us that there was absolutely no reason to use the very expensive addition of the ball bearings. This has had a very positive influence on the prices that we could obtain the motors for at ProSlot, but it has also meant that these motors can be purchased by any racer directly from ProSlot.

The PS4000Comp motor uses the same hand wound, balanced US made armature. Every motor is tested by ProSlot prior to shipment, so there is a very good quality control.

Naturally we did extensive testing of the PS4000Comp motor and did some direct comparisons with the PS4000IMCA. The results of these tests have been very conclusive in proving Dan DeBella correct. The PS4000Comp motor is extremely good, very equal and the 12 motors that we have tested have given more than 12 hours of problem free racing. And yes, I do mean racing! We have used 12 motor (None where run in prior to first usage.) in six 2 hour races using LMP cars. During these races we equipped 6 cars with the PS4000IMCA motor and 6 cars with the PS4000COMP motor. The result was as stated previously very conclusive, in that the Comp version set the quickest lap at every test race and ran the most laps.

The motors used at the OEPS 2010 are sealed and marked versions that will naturally be run in, and all will be tested before being included in the hand out procedure. This should make 100% sure that all the motors used will give maximum performance for all teams from the first lap.

As we have found the performance almost 100% identical to a PS4000IMCA motor there is no problem in using these motors to test your setup etc. but the motor can be purchased directly at ProSlot or from Pål Hanson who have a stock of these motors. Price of the PS4000COMP is around €25,00 per pcs.

To buy the PS 4000COMP Contact:

ProSlot Inc.,  687 Lincoln Lake Ave. S.,Lowell, Mi. 49331,Phone +001 (616) 897-6000, Fax +001(616) 897-6052 - Email: dan@proslot.com

Valliant Marketing ApS, Heimdalsvej 35 st., DK-3600 Frederikssund, Phone +4528998021, Email pha@valliant.biz  Price of the PS4000COMP is €22,00 per pcs. plus postage from Valliant Marketing

14.11.2009

Through the immense support we have received, the Open European Prototype Series looks like it will be one of the most important 1/24 model car series in 2010.

We have 24 confirmed entries, with a total of 62 drivers from 10 countries! There is no doubt that the OEPS will also be one of the most interesting series technologically!

There are a lot of very good constructors in the OEPS, and there will be at least 11 different chassis on the start line, in other words the OEPS will be a very tough competition between high tech equipment and the best model car racers in Europe.

The commitment from the entrants and drivers is especially important to emphasis, as this series is driven by slotracers for slotracers! No mumbo jumbo!

Whether this was a friday 13th. problem ;-) I don't know, but we have lost some pictures from the server, so some pages looks a bit strange! I will be correcting this throughout the weekend, so have patience everyone, the OEPS site will be back to former glory in a day or two!

Several things has been happenin over the past few weeks. The most important is a confirmation from Titanic Bowling and Mr. Mulln that the Spa track will stay in the Euregio area and that our race is in the calendar.

22.09.2009

Mark Campbell has confirmed that there will be a Sprint Worlds held in connection with the last OEPS race of the season in Trier. The race will go for Formula 1 cars, something that should level the playing field for all who participate, as this is something brand new. You can read much more about this event that combines the World Endurance Championship and the Wordl Sprint Championship at http://www.trierworlds.com/

11.09.09.:

We have received lot's of questions from OEPS entrants about the Trier race, and the World Endurance Championship and the World Sprint Championships. Trier is the final race of the OEPS 2010 season, and it will also double as the World Endurance Championships. There will be separate points for both OEPS and the WEC race during this last race.

There will also be held the World Sprint Championships with F1 Grand Prix cars on the Thursday and part of the Friday before the OEPS race. This race is an individual championship and is open for all to enter. The OEPS drivers can enter this race as individuals if they so whish. However there is no obligation to do so!

More information on these additional events will be published separately when details are made public.

02.09.09.:

There has been another minor update to the rules, to rectify a mistake concerning the minimum width of the front wheels. Now it also states clearly that there must be a 6 mm contact area on the tech block and NOT a 7 mm contact area.

27.08.09.:

There has been an update to the rules, to rectify a mistake concerning the minimum width of the front wheels.

17.08.09.:

We have just recieved information from Kai Kivekas that for the Copenhagen OEPS round Scuderia Kaitserrari will have Mathias Parke as one of it's drivers!

15.08.09.:

We, the OEPS organizers feel compelled to make the following statement public:

"The organizing committee of the 2010 Open European Prototype Series (OEPS) has never had and has nothing what so ever to do with the International Model Car Association (IMCA).

We have in no way asked to be included in the IOC ranking system, to be considered as the European Endurance Championship (EEC) or to be brought into conjunction with anything that has to do with IMCA.

The organizers also want to make it quite clear that OEPS does not place any restriction upon teams that have entered the OEPS in connection with any other slot racing series or championship they intend to enter.

All Information pertaining and relevant to the OEPS organization and its events can be found SOLELY on our web at www.oeps-info.com

We distance ourselves from any information published elsewhere. We thus ask our readers and racers only to refer to this site as sources of information and in case of doubt contact oeps@oeps-info.com

13.08.09.:

Kai Kivekas of Scuderia Kaitserrari has just confirmed the two team mates for his Finish team, and the teams pages has been updated accordingly.

01.08.09:

Fola has been at it again! Two new bodies are ready, the Lola Aston Martin LMP and the Audi R8 GT.

The Lola Aston Martin LMP is a beautifull conversion Fola did starting from the Peugeot 908 HDi, the whole process can be seen on Fola's Picasa web follow this link http://picasaweb.google.com/slotfabrik12/AstonLola#.

The Audi is naturally appealing to those of us who are also racing GT's and it looks very nice and will be a welcome addition at any re-make of the 24 Hours of Spa or Nürburgring!

Again you can see more at Fola's Picasa: http://picasaweb.google.com/slotfabrik12/R802#

29.07.09:

Erlo of Durban South Africa is making the monstrous Audi R15 TDi, and he is close to finsihing the master!

Follow this link to see more of the build process.: http://picasaweb.google.com/erlopaul2/R15Build#

This is one awsom BIG, no HUUUUGE race car, that we are really hoping to see in the OEPS 2010. We will naturally keep you posted on the progress of this new body and how to get your sticky little hands on it when Erlo har finished it!

29.07.09:

Fresh rumour has it that the Alsdorf SPA track will only be moved 40 km from Alsdorf. More on this when it has been confirmed.

27.07.09: By Pål Hanson

The Toronto Masters is now well under way, as the racing comensed on monday. The Sprint Worlds was won by Børge Haug, with Gabriel Inhäbit runner up and Glenn Wennerberg in third spot! Congratulations to all. Later today the LMP racing will start, and that will probably give even closer racing. There will be updates on the following forums www.worldslotracing.com and www.slotracinglemans.com and Gabe has uploaded lots of pictures at http://picasaweb.google.ca/gabe.inabnit/2009Toronto#

I am naturaly tipping my Norwegian flag to Børge and Glenn!! Good show guys! Keep it up!

27.07.09: The Titanic Bowling Spa track gets a new home!

The Alsdorf SPA track will be moved to a possibel location in Mönchengladbach, this has yet to be confirmed, but we do hope that this will happen!! It will be moved at the end of August and not on August 22nd as we first was told.

However this will be a great opportunity to renovate the track and we hope that the opening race of the OEPS 2010 series will be one of the main events in2010 at the new location!

29.06.09.

THE GRID IS FULL!!

30 teams have now registred for OEPS 2010!!

There is a waiting list of 3 teams at the moment, if you go to the teams page scroll down to the bottom to see the reserve teams!

OEPS are now up to the registration of 30 teams, with drivers from 10 different countries from all around the world! Of course the weight is on European drivers representing 8 countries. That is how it should be.

The depth of the field however promises some exceptional ding dong battles on track next year. There is also a lot of technical development going on, among them there will almost certainly be a brand new US designed and developed chassis on the starting grid!

We have three family teams entered two father/son teams and more uniquely a mother/son team. The whole specter of talented builders and racers are entered, and there will be close racing!

There will also be winners and losers, as in the real world. Nothing, but nothing is settled before “The Fat Lady” sing in Trier in September of 2010 – If you want to be part of OEPS, there is plenty of room for more teams, and we have room for beginners, experts and the in between’s, so don’t hesitate to enter, because like the classic slogan of “Hard Rock Café” – “We Serve All and we Love All….”!

16.06.09.

Dust will slowly start to settle after another thrilling 24 hours of Le Mans, which was won by Peugeot having finally broken Audi’s string of succes during the last decade.

Following this fantastic race and in keeping with our 2008-2009 period, we are adding a few new cars, amongst which are the beautifull #17 Pescarolo Peugeot 908 , and the two new Porsche Spyder liveries of Team Essex and team Goh. The Pescarolo Peugeot especially, will be a real joy to the eye, as Fola Osu practicly demanded that he’s to build that car.

For your convenience we have only listed the cars of which we know that there are 1/24 scale bodies available.

As soon as we learn that a new prototype body of the 2008-2009 ALMS, ELMS and/or Le Mans is availabe, we will update our cars page.

The huge entry field we already have, unfortunately forces us to restrict the entries to 30 teams, with 2 extra open spots which will be at our discretion to assign to a team.

15.06.09.

OK, after this weekends Le Mans there will be many new liveries on its way, but it is now time to hurry up if you want to secure an entry for the 2010 OEPS. There are 30 entrys in total, and we now have 27 confirmed entries!! After the 30th. entry has been recieved new teams will be registred on a waiting list in the order that they register.
